My name is Kelly Jones and it is my goal to use my experience and resources as a player and coach to provide information that will help players develop. My experience as a Professional player includes being ranked #1 in the World in Doubles and winning two ATP Singles Titles. After retiring from Pro Tennis, I worked for the USTA as a National Coach for 6 years, went on to coach Mardy Fish, Xavier Malisse, and a number of young Professionals competing in Futures and Challenger level events. This is an awesome sport and I hope that I can make the experience more enjoyable.Current methodology is one of the major problems limiting development and has remained the same over the past several decades. Of course the game has changed just as in other sports. But most of what we see happening with the top professionals today has been around for years. Players grow and adjust to the demands. However, human beings only have two arms and two legs and unless a new species develops there are only so many ways to do things naturally .
Flexibility
What separates the top players from the rest? There are a few factors but one that absolutely must exist on a daily basis is the ability to produce repeatable high-level shots. To succeed today you cannot be limited to being only offensive or mostly defensive. The way most of us are taught to play tennis here in America is unnatural and filled with structure and systems. Rules have dominated the way we learn the game. Rules can be so conforming and limiting. This kind of structure can have a profound impact on a player’s ability to reach his or her potential.
